Irony of Saying "Be Yourself" - Virginia Locke

I find the idealistic phrase of "being yourself" as being very confusing. A person, whether or not they are being disingenuous, is themselves. I feel the better phrase would be to "be honest." The truth is, a dishonest person is being their true selves in the height of their fraudulence, and their truest core is quite loathsome.
