Text: Mathematical knowledge adds vigour to the mind, frees it from prejudice, credulity, and superstition. I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. A formal manipulator in mathematics often experiences the discomforting feeling that his pencil surpasses him in intelligence. The study of mathematics cannot be replaced by any other activity that will train and develop man's purely logical faculties to the same level of rationality. Each paragraph will be a test.
