Punishment - Adrian Beltran

This quote was added by abrahamjoke
If a man commits murder, what good is done by making him die as well? Murder is wrong because of the suffering it causes, but is there any less suffering caused when a murderer dies? A killer can and is just as likely to have family, friends, and loved ones that will miss him when he dies. Capital punishment is the epitome of mankind's hypocrisy.

This is a gross misunderstanding of the historical rationale behind capital punishment and a facile reduction of the entire argument to utilitarian grounds.
