Adding a quote

How do I add a quote? I have created my own custom text but on my profile, it is not recorded as a quote. Are there any rules to writing these quotes?
There are some characters that are not allowed (e.g., brackets, slashes, etc.), but it will flag it and give you an error message if your quote contains these. After you submit your quote, it will be pending for a day or so and then go live.
