What keyboard layout works well for you and why?

I don't really care what kind of keyboard I have

Keyboard doesn't bother me, it's just what I'm meant to write.. Stupid big words are annoying, more small words are a LOT better than less big words.

If you mean the keys themselves, I've stuck with QWERTY because that's what I grew up with. If anyone can show me why DVORAK is better, then I might actually switch, but until then...

I am using Dvorak with a Microsoft ergonomic 4000 keyboard. The keyboard has qwerty key labels so I can't cheat by looking at the keys. That has really helped me learn the layout of the Dvorak quickly.

Wow almost all of these answers are truly inane.

You might check out Minimak. It's meant for QWERTY typists interested in seeing what a new layout can do without jeopardizing your QWERTY skills.

The initial layout changes only 4 keys, and still offers more than half the improvement of Dvorak. There are 4-key upgrades beyond that, but you don't have to use them.

Everyone knows dvorak is superior. It is painful to learn but when you get used to it. It feels like the keyboard and you are one.

QWERTY. Just because its how I have always typed.
By littlebit264 - posted: 11 years, 8 months ago

That would be kinda cool.

The QWERTY layout has the keys placed in such a way that if you type in English, you usually won't have to press keys with the same finger much, but alternate, for speed.
Not so good for other languages on this front.
