I really can't type without looking at the keyboard. Yah sometimes I may be slow at my typing skills, and sometimes I am slow? What about you?

A great little site for learning how to type. Of course do not expect to learn everything in one day so just keep at it and eventually you should get it. Keyhero.com is the sort of website that you use to hone your abilities, not to learn how to type without looking. To learn how to type without looking it is best to find a website like the one above to learn. If you do not like this particular website then just google "learn to type". If you do not like any of the free websites there is always the option of buying a program that will teach you to type. There are countless options online, but this is one of the first that is pretty good and is completely free.

If your school offers a typing class, take it. I took a class when I was in 11th grade and am so happy that I did. Being able to touch-type is a skill that everyone these days should have.

Your not the only one. I look at my keyboard also from time to time. I am rusty at this and typing for is a little challenging. I have a question, does the typing lessons or test show how many wpm you time? The ones I have done so far doesn't show it, is that common?

Up until about a few weeks ago I would look at my keyboard all the time, I really had to force myself to think about my muscle memory to keep myself from looking. New words or uncommon complex ones slow me down greatly since I have to think about each letter in the word. Even now I make many mistakes, the backspace is my best friend right now.

I mostly dont need to look when I am typing. Here is a tip: look at da keyboard letters, try remembering them , whenever u have tym, lyk when u r cooking, in da car n even in da washroom.
See its pretty simple:
1)qwerty
2)uiop
3)asdefgh
4)jkl
5)zxcvb
6)nm

TRY TO LEARN IT LYK A POEM.

I used to have that problem too. I have gotten somewhat better with it. My advice is just to
1) Force yourself not to look. It's miserable, and your scores will plummet, at first, but in the end it will be worth it.
2) Practice typing in real life. If you have the option to handwrite something or to type it, type it. When you do this, again force yourself not to look. You'll be surprised how much easier it is not to look when you are typing your own thoughts, instead of reading and typing.

Buy a keyboard with blank key caps. That will teach you fast.
By gedeon - posted: 10 years, 7 months ago

Keyboard with blank caps is really a good idea. I bought some blank key caps in October (4 months ago) to fit on my keyboard, and my typing skills improved dramatically since then! you should seriously give it a try, it will force you not to look at the keyboard, but learn the position of the keys in your muscle memory instead.

I used to have to look at the keyboard for every letter. It took a while to remember where the keys were, then it became easier as time went on to read and type at the same time. Its much easier to type out your thoughts than to read them and type them at the same time.

Keep it up! I was like that and now if I look I mess up. It's very tedious but practice, practice, practice! Try a different sight that guides you in placement of home row as well as it usually has a pic on the screen telling you which finger to use to get the key as well as where the key is. Helps you to not look down because you have a keyboard right in front of you on the screen. You'll get it, just stay positive. :-)

It took me about two months as well! I remember when I used to type with my index fingers !

I've been typing for about eight years now and I still occasionally need to look at the keyboard to reassure myself that I'm doing the right thing. It's just a practice thing. The worst thing is using social networking sites and such-like nowadays as everything is shortened and very often spelled incorrectly, which is proving a bad influence on typists globally. I think apps like this should be put into practice in schools and colleges so that people don't dismiss the rules too much.

Know you are not the only one, as a matter of fact, when typing this message, I was actually looking at the keyboard.

Are you scared of making mistakes? You do get better at feeling for the correct keys with practice, but I must confess I do have a peep for less familiar characters!....and numbers.
By mstechfreak - posted: 9 years, 11 months ago

Guys, only practice makes perfect! You just have to find the right tool for learning.
I can suggest you to choose from these - www.typingstudy.com…
However, typingstudy itself is a good one.
By sreen - posted: 9 years, 10 months ago

Same here too. But you can practice touch typing and it will help you look less because you will be familiar with the keys and their positions in qwerty keyboards
