For those who have 100 wpm and above, if you remember when you were at 50wpm, how exactly did you practice and how long did it take to get to 80 wpm ?

I just do this for fun. I just want to get as fast as in the movies.
At the moment i am at 50 ~ 55 wpm.
I'm don't have 100 wpm (yet) -- although I don't know if I'll ever reach it.

Just practice and touch type. Try not to look at your keyboard while typing. If you already are a touch typist, just practice A LOT. I started learning Colemak 2 months ago, and went from 25 WPM to around 70 WPM now.

Accuracy is key here in this site. Even a one character mistake will lower your WPM for the rest of the quote. Be careful especially on short quotes, as one character mistake will lower accuracy percentage more than long ones, so WPM will be dramatically affected.

Good luck!

I took a keyboarding class about 4 years ago, and that brought my speed from around 30 wpm to around 60-65 wpm, but more importantly it taught me touch typing. You need to have the location of the keys memorized and continue touch typing. Based on your profile, your accuracy isn't exactly the best, but it can be worked on later. What I did was focus on improving my speed until I got to 100ish, and now I'm starting to focus on improving my accuracy.
