I don't really know what you would consider 'fast'; I consider 120 WPM fast, I type from 90 ~ 110 WPM.
So, I'll give you general advice on what I think helped me type faster.
From under 100 WPM, the most important focus is on touch typing. All your alphabets + shift + punctuations should be 'hard wired' to the point where you can just imagine a imaginary keyboard on a table and type a sentence.
From over 100 WPM or reaching 100 WPM, you probably will develop a memory for the numbers, hyphen, and quotation marks. There are smaller improvements you can make by changing which hand or finger presses which key. For example, I was typing the key 'y' with my left hand, after I switched to my right, I can type without hiccups.
Memorising the keys are the first priority for most people.
