Try P!ATD. Their older music is a bit more emo but their newer music like High Hopes or One Of The Drunks is more uplifting. For the record I use High Hopes as a motivational track lol

Unfortunately "canyoujustnot", I'm not familiar with any of the bands that you've mentioned so I don't know if I'll be suggesting anything you'd actually like or not....but...I listen to a lot of Beirut, Gogol Bordello and Calexico. I find pretty much everyone who DOES NOT like or listen to mindless top-40 hits tends to like these three bands. If you happen to check them out, let me know what you think! If you like them....I've got TONS more suggestions for you....

I like all the groups/artists you listed! These are some other bands I listen to a lot as well, some of them have a bit of a different vibe than the groups you listed but they're still great! --> Portugal. The Man, The Neighbourhood, Tame Impala, Joywave, ODESZA, blackbear, mansionz, The Lumineers, The Killers, Panic! At the Disco, Bad Suns, Arctic Monkeys, alt-J, The 1975, Hey Marseilles....
