First day

So I practiced typing for like an hour and my average got worse! What does that even mean? Oh well, at least my max was at around 110 at 100%. Achievement unlocked =D

So out of curiosity, does anyone prime themselves with lessons, and then start practicing. I want to know anyone's personal tips if they have any. I'm on a road to making 200 WPM.

Also, I have bad posture, and it hurts after awhile when I sit up straight. My screen is level, having a 90-degree bend is awkward. Are there stretches or exercises I should consider?

Anyway, my plan is to practice an hour a day every day. I enjoy typing, and it's the one thing I can do while thinking about something else when I'm not trying to get faster.
Ya! I can type even faster in a 100%

Someone who types as quickly as you probably doesn't need much more of tips or practice than you're already getting. As for stretches, you can stretch your fingers and bend them backward before typing.

Well, like toddhicks209 pointed, you are already very fast, and basic advice won't probably help you much. But you can read previous topics to see what some of the fastest typists, like geoffhuang, lytewerk,.. have written. They have some good advice there, like getting a mechanical keyboard and stuff...
My advice would be to keep doing what you have been doing. It might feel like you make progress very slowly, but there are no shorcuts. Keep it up!
Edit: check this guy's channel, he has exercises for gamers: https://www.youtube…

It probably means that your average varies randomly and that this particular day had it start high and end low. Your typing speed varies from test to test and that variation doesn't mean much, as you've probably realized. The average that you see on the site only shows the average of the last ten, so while it varies less, it does vary. If it showed, e.g., the last 100, it would be very hard to change, and would generally mean that there was some kind of long term (hopefully upwards) change going on.

Another possibility is that after a while you got tired, so while you were genuinely typing worse, it's not permanent. I sometimes find that after a while typing, I make a lot of mistakes. It feels a bit like saying a word too many times and having it stop sounding like a real word: the different positions don't really seem that different.

Anyway, I wouldn't worry. It's the trend over weeks, not hours, that matters.

I will add that if you do make it to 200 WPM, you'll be one of the fastest English language typists in the world, and that 100+ is good. Guinness lists Barbara Blackburn as the fastest (recorded doing 170 WPM for short periods, and her peak was 212 WPM) but there is some debate on how to measure that. This Quora post https://www.quora.c… seems to have a good debate and information.
