Hi, Izzy here...

What is the highest wpm you've ever reached on any website?

Izzy

How do you guys type that fast? Is it because of the language you speak and converse is English, is that it?
By coolby - posted: 4 years, 7 months ago

I try to press the letter keys really quickly. That tends to increase the wpm's.
By fefcas - posted: 4 years, 7 months ago

The shorter the phrase, the fastest you "can" type. This is muscle fatigue. Say loud "Tatatatatatatatatatatatatata" the faster you can. You will notice that the first tata's are faster than the last ones.

Move your fingers really quickly and learn where all the keys are

111 WPM is my personal typing record

I am stuck at 70 wpm. I think it's a accuracy thing. What do you think?
By qayss - posted: 4 years, 7 months ago

I agree, I've been stuck at ~70 wpm for quite a while now, I'm trying hard to get my accuracy higher.
By fefcas - posted: 4 years, 7 months ago

Accuracy down, speed down. Accuracy up, speed up. I'm also in this situation, I'll try now to type only the shorter phrases. My average speed now: 71.

And I'm going to use the "Next test" button always when I do some mistake, like the "Instant Death" game.
By mcspeller - posted: 4 years, 7 months ago

Fastest I've gone was 180wpm on typings, 150~ on here, 134 on typeracer, and 134 on nitrotype. I'm not the fastest, but hey, they're my records

If you press ESCAPE A.K.A the ESC key, it'll automatically skip a race if you press it.
By fefcas - posted: 4 years, 7 months ago

Yes, my speed has consistently increased from 71 to 78 WPM and my accuracy reached almost 100%. That's it! How difficult is it to type a phrase with no mistakes!

Sometimes I just blame my keyboard since it's just too loud
By gangangangangangangang - posted: 4 years, 6 months ago

Do you have a mechanical keyboard? Or do you just press your keys with too much force.
By gabrielb - posted: 4 years, 6 months ago

I figure out personal strategies and work with the way my brain/body works. When I read the quote ahead and forget about my fingers, I make less mistakes than when I'm focusing on my fingers and word for word. I've also noticed my hands pause when I'm about to make a mistake and that I am making a conscious mechanical choice out of habit to push through these moments in an attempt to type faster but wind up making mistakes. I've become sensitive to these moments and flow with them, allowing the pause while my fingers do a split second "re-calibration". When I do this successfully, I find myself hitting numbers over 100 wpm. The highest I've achieved on Nitrotype is 132 and 131 on Keyhero. My average is 85 and this is due mostly to bad habits.

275wpm on "Perhaps if you know you are insane then you are not insane." (on Typeracer)

My 10ff PB is pretty slow though, been stuck at 162 for a while now.

145 on Keyhero yesterday :D
By tristantrim - posted: 4 years, 6 months ago

Yeah. I'm at 70 now. How do people type so fast!? I've just moved up from ~60 to about ~70 through a new keyboard and a deliberate focus on key combos, like when I type "ce" I'm now using my left pointer finger on the "c" rather than using my middle finger for both. Is this good practice, or should I just focus on typing faster using standard fingers for each column of keys?

Try watching videos of people who type very fast, where the camera shows their hands on the keyborard. There are some on Sean Wrona's youtube channel, and others.

Whoah, pretty crazy, but most of what I get from the video is the rhythm and speed of his typing. It looks like he might be hovering around and hitting keys with non-standard fingers. I'm not sure what I can really learn from these videos other than inspiration that these typing speeds really are possible.

174.48 on this website. I think around 130 WPM on 10FastFingers. I spend a lot more time here than I do there. (That's my excuse, anyway)
