How do you type <space>?

How do you hit the spacebar, always with the same thumb, or alternating, or maybe you have some rules for which thumb hits it depending on the word?

I've been having the problem that I always hit the spacebar with my left thumb (probably an artefact since my gaming days). I've been trying a few months now to alternate, but to no avail. Once I start typing without consciously controlling which thumb hits, I always go back to the left-thumb-exclussive. What's worse, when I try alternating, I make mistakes more often.

How do you hit the spacebar? How do you think it's better? And, if possible, any advice?
i use both thumbs or my left thumb it is easier for me. Sometimes I have the same problem as you! The alternating stuff. Sometimes i use my pointer finger. but dont worry it may stop

I use my left thumb exclusively, and I don't think it really matters. I hardly move my hands when I type; the thumb just alwas stays above the space bar. It has no other purpose in typing after all...

I used to use right excessively, then thought of changing to left for some while, now alternating

about alternating, it's the hardest; I feel like your mind needs to create two keyboards in your head, one for each thumb, but I think that it's useful for you in general; it really helps you to be "ambidextrous"; take a look: http://en.wikipedia…
