It could be that you have a lot of errors that you're not correcting. You could be typing at about 45 wpm but the errors bring your speed calculation down.

I been getting the same problem. I average about 58wpm with 95% accuracy, but occasionally I get an error where my speed is recorded as being under 10wpm. Even though I know it's false, it's very disheartening to see my 10 game average take such a hit from this.

I'll be emailing this to the developers to make sure they're aware of the problem.

Could you post a screenshot the next time it happens?

I did make sure my accuracy was good and the only vibrant color was green on the test. You can go on my account and look at my records and see the accuracy that was put in after I finished.

And it didn't ever say that I got "minus <speed> for missing <thing>" I fix everything I run into. (The clicking noise helps)

I wish I could attach a photo but you can look at my account. Scroll down and on the quote by "Rick Harrison" it will show I got about 94 accuracy with 1.91 speed

When you click start, a timer is started. The timer ends when you complete the test. If you start typing directly after clicking start, the score will correctly reflect your performance. However if you click start, do something else for 5 minutes and then start typing, you will have a low score because the WPM is calculated based on when you click start (not based on when you start typing the quote).

Is that what's happening?

They updated the website with this little tab saying "started to slow. this can affect your WPM!" So that is probably what happened. Thanks!

I also think it could be a number of errors being made. You could type a hundred words per minute, but if you only have 30% accuracy, you will have a low speed.
