What is your typing technique?

Well, I don't actually touch type. I have my own little messed up way of doing it. My right hand does nearly all of the work, while my left hand only handles the letters u-p, j-l, n, and m. I always use my left thumb for space, and I only use the right shift key. Don't restrict your fingers to only using certain keys, just use whichever one is closest.

I type by sentence. when I'm doing a quote I really like and believe in it's easier to type then something you disagree with .
By idk_myname - posted: 12 years, 4 months ago

To be honest, typing is simple. All you have do is recognize where the keys are and read the words that you are typing. Just FOCUS!

Touch Typing with 11 fingers is my technique. ;)

Use touch and type method. This is the only method we could increase the speed of typing up to no limit. The arrangement of keys to those fingers are well calculated. There is no other choice of arrangements the allocation of keys to fingers. Any other style has limit. At a particular time the maximum speed achieves, further speed achievement is difficult. This is my opinion only.

If you are a beginner use Touch and Type method

Type a lot, all the time, every day, about everything, just because you can.
By user22124 - posted: 12 years, 3 months ago

I guess when I type I mainly use all my fingers and both thumbs except my pinkies... pinkies I only use for Enter and sometimes period or other...

1: Learn the correct technique for finger placment. This is the hardest step.
2: Learn to type without having to look at your keyboard.
3: Learn to type more accurately and speed will follow. This is a difficult rule to follow but a very rewarding one.
By abhipriya - posted: 12 years, 3 months ago

speed and accuracy are the key

I am learning touch typing with Dvorak software setting and QWERTY hardware. I cant cheat by looking at the keyboard. I'm still slow but I like Dvorak better!

By marlenas - posted: 12 years, 3 months ago

Try to relax and take your time. I don't know how far along you are with touch typing, but it takes times to learn the keyboard layout. My typing teacher suggested to focus on accuracy first (knowing where the letters are). After that, your speed will come. Practice everyday if you can. For me, that's how I don't blank out on testing. I hope this input helps. I think you can do it! If I can, you can... believe me!

By zephyr_crucible - posted: 12 years, 3 months ago

Yes, there's ABC which arranges the keys in alphabetical order. QWERTY is optimized for the english language putting the most frequently used keys in easiest reach and least frequently used further away. It's a letter puzzle designed to type fastest.

By anavrod10 - posted: 12 years, 2 months ago

I'm not sure. pretty much terrible
By sweetiejenjen - posted: 12 years, 2 months ago

take it slow and learn the proper typing technique. Speed will come when the techniques are slowly mastered. And being in high school, we type a lot of essays on a daily basis, so that's also extra practice (:
By sweetiejenjen - posted: 12 years, 2 months ago

I used to do that to when I first started learning how to type. However, the shift key will be a lot better unless you just want to type an entire sentence in CAPS. Now, I mostly use my right shift because it feels funny to use my left pinky.

I think about what I am typing and the keys on the keyboard.

Music, and tune out. All the way. Just look at the letters.
By aeristes - posted: 12 years, 2 months ago

Sometimes I don't even look at the screen I stare off into the distance and let my fingers do all the work. I'll read a sentence or phrase and let the hand catch up as I focus on the wall beyond my screen,
