typing without copying?

If we're just typing freehand, how do we figure out WPM? Like I'm typing here but I want to figure out how fast I type freehand. Wanna just type for 5 minutes and see how many WPM i get, help?
Good way to do this is to open a word document and set the timer for 5 minutes. DO NOT USE THE MICROSOFT WORD COUNT, because words per minute actually measures 5 characters as one word. Once the timer is finished, take the character count and divide it by 5. This is your freehand words per minute.
