What's your favourite word?

Been using this site now for 2 weeks in which time my best speed has gone from about 35 to 53 wpm.

During that time I've noticed some words appear quite often and I can now type them automatically. My favourite word is 'people' which I've discovered can type almost instantly in one fluid motion of keystrokes. When I see this word appear in a text I smile. When it appears more than once I'm almost delirious!

Anybody else have a similar reaction and if so what words. I'm not talking about short words, say 6 letters or more.

When I read the title of your thread I instantly thought "people", too! The word gave me some trouble when I started out since my right pinky's fine motory skills are next to non-existant, but I've learned to love it. Another word I like quite much is "Question".

I'm having terrible problems with the word people xD. I have the bad habit of moving my index finger and middle finger over to the p in order to type that word out. I'm trying to correct it, and finding out that my right pinky is kind of a wimp.

realistically, for some reason i find i can type it quite fluently. There are lots of little words you find yourself enjoying when you type them more than others, am I the only one who gets a little kick out of it, despite it meaning nothing?

Yes I agree, the word 'people' I can now breeze through and any word that
ends with 'tion' or 'wer' is done in almost one motion.
That why typing site that have you typing random letters for speed like
'asd' and 'zqx' I avoid because you will probably never in counter these
letter combinations in the real world.
I have gone from not being able to type at all to, the last time I tested,
36 WPM. I would guess that I'm somewhere in the high 40s now and
just think all those years writing computer code with just one or two fingers.
Learning to type is a gift to yourself.

In my above post I meant to type "encounter" and not "in counter".

When I typed with Qwerty, I hated the word "people." I'm of completely of the opposite opinion. My favorite: power.

Try it.

Now that I'm typing with Colemak, I'm finding there are many more words that give me that feeling than with Qwerty. One example is "friendly," which is like love for the fingers. "The" is also something I used to hate because I would swap the h and the e when typing fast, but Colemak fixed that.

I'm actually a fan of the word "everything". "Thing" itself has always been an easy word for me, but compounded with "every", I tend to be able to type it faster than most words of similar length.

I'm also not sure if this makes any sense, but it also makes me feel kind of... powerful? I don't know the first think about COLEMAK, but on a QWERTY... you know those words that only take up a little bit of movement from your hand or none at all (like "safe" or "dead")? "Everything" is a word that I can type efficiently and feel my hands really working at it meanwhile. It might not span across the entire keyboard, but it isn't just typing with your fingers stuck to the standard keys.

If you use Kazantsev fingering on QWERTY, many words which were burdensome become much easier. But this is mostly beside the point.

After typing on Dvorak for 20 years, and then transitioning to Colemak, and now learning Kazantsev QWERTY, I have concluded that no matter which layout you use, once you have internalized the common letter sequences to muscle memory, the difficulties in fingering different words fades into the background and you don't even notice them anymore.
