Why are all of these quotes so "deep"?

I feel like half of these quotes are about some deep truth about life or life advice, and usually they are pretty cheesy. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me? I think there should be more excerpts from books or something like that.
PS I have done most of my quotes logged out, so that's why it doesn't look like I have seen many on my profile.

I completely agree. There's so many cheesy quotes... Reminds me of cheesy word art that people decorate their walls with - words like 'faith', 'hope' or 'love'. Or the quotes are embarrassingly personal

The thing is quotes that evoke a specific emotion in a person, especially those that inspire hope or growth, will always be popular because people love to feel that way. In turn the more of those quotes that are posted the more like minded people are going to contribute. If the quotes were 90% fandom quotes there would most likely be more people attracted who like fandoms.

I hear what you're saying @Itshine, however, I think you may be missing the point. Some people find that sort of cheesiness annoying - I'm actually made uncomfortable by it. I would much prefer to read quotes that are thought-provoking than emotion provoking. I don't need, or appreciate, quotes from total strangers telling me that I'm a special flower and I can accomplish anything that I put my mind to - to me, that's cheesy bubble gum sentiments and nothing more

Yeah I'm sure that there are a lot of people like you as well that don't have taste for the quotes but clearly more people do than don't. By virtue of this being an open community what is popular and accessible for most will be what you see the most of.

Unfortunately for me, I do believe that you're correct @Itshine

For me there's no difference between the two. I find quotes that tell me how to feel or how to think distasteful. Specially considering one of the rules when submitting new quotes is “no political or religious quotes”, which I find many of these preachy quotes break.
