I've started typing "c," "v," "b," "n," and "m" with my thumbs. It's slower right now, because I need to think about it so much, but my thinking is, when I need to move my index fingers up and down so much, it really slows me down. Try typing "unannounced" a bunch with thumbs for bottom row and tell me what you think.

Typing quotes is so enjoyable. There's something about getting dropped into the middle of a piece of literature or just something someone said at some point in their lives. You get an introduction to such a broad and random set of perspectives. The only criterion is that someone had to like it enough to submit it as a quote here.

Always give up at exactly the right time. When you first try something you are exploring how difficult it is and how much you like it. If you give up too early, you won't have explored it enough, and if you give up too late, you will have wasted time that could have been better used trying something that would have been more worthwhile. Don't listen to these people who tell you to never give up.

Practicing smiling" is not self compassion, it's a denial of fragility. It's a band aid over depression. When you're ok and you're alone you say: "How do I choose what I can do? I could read or create something or just daydream." Maybe it's just me, but it makes me sad to think about somebody "practicing smiling.

When you see somebody whose hands are full struggling with a door, and you see that you are the closest person to them, you get a little giddy and rush over to hold the door open. It's so easy to do and for just a brief moment you get to be a hero rescuing someone. You get to be good. It's not in a big or grand way, but it's a nice change from being a parasite on the world trying to find anything to do to justify the torture you put people through to sustain your life.
