What really helped me improve my typing speed is learning to slow down and focus more on accuracy. Having to go back and correct mistakes that shouldn't have even been made in the first place drag down your WPM significantly. Once I didn't have to go back and correct mistakes, my speed skyrocketed. This, along with practice (and a good keyboard, haha) will ensure fast and adequate typing.
