I don't have any problem with the words in this quote. I don't like it because of the ellipses. They're followed by a space, and it's not easy to tell visually, and if there's a common rule, it's not well enough known for me to know it. So I slow down to think about it, or peer more closely at the letters.

I completely identify with this! There were many times I was literally not allowed to go to school because she knew it was the worst punishment above the beatings and other forms of abuse.
