When many people think of a desert they think of vast open areas of sand and dunes. But did you know that the largest desert in the world doesn't contain any sand, but instead ice? The largest desert in the world is actually the Antarctic because deserts are measured on the amount of precipitation that it receives which is less than ten inches a year!
