Robert Sabuda - Sharks and Other sea monsters
Since the first ships put out to sea, sailors have told tales of sea monsters. Ancient Leviathan was thought to sleep beneath the waves, rising to swallow ships whole. Vikings feared the deadly Kraken, a creature that was half crab, half octopus. Giant sea snake attacks on ocean vessels were reported as recently as two hundred years ago. And though most such tales are now dismissed as legend, they are based in fact - long before humans walked the earth, real sea monsters ruled the deep.

Roald Dahl - Matilda
"Well," Miss Honey said, "it's only a guess, but here's what I think. While you were in my class you had nothing to do, nothing to make you struggle. Your fairly enormous brain was going crazy with frustration. It was bubbling and boiling away like mad inside your head. There was tremendous energy bottled up in there with nowhere to go, and somehow or other you were able to shoot that energy out through your eyes and make objects move.

Frederick Toates - Bodies, brains, behaviour and minds.
Of course, the brain does not exist in isolation. Rather, it has interdependence with other parts of the body. Hence, an understanding of the brain will need to be generated in the context of its links with other regions.
