* Mettez les index sur les touches qui ont un relief (petit point ou barre)
* A chaque touche il y a un doigt assigné. Une touche doit toujours être tapée par le même doigt.
* Ne regardez pas le clavier, les yeux doivent toujours être sur l'écran
* Entrainez-vous !
thinking my biggest problem is that my head can't keep up with my fingers, so i end up twitching and accidentally mashing another key that destroys my vibe. will seek progress
What really helped me improve my typing speed is calming down by focusing one one color of your choice then trying again until I've done better than last time.
I never switched to Colemak. I just used it in typing games. It was quick to learn. Like 90% of old speed in 2 months maybe. From there it gets much slower. I don't think age is so important. I guess I was 33 or so.
A month and a half ago (Jan 21, 2018) I was hunt-and-peck typing at ~20wpm, because on that day I switched from QWERTY to Colemak. From that day, I started practicing every day on another typing tutor website (https://www.keybr.com/profile/9594tuc). After one month of typing Colemak on a regular shaped keyboard, I switched to an Ergodox keyboard (http://ergodox-ez.com/) and it took me about a week to start to get comfortable with the new shape. I intend to continue practicing every day for half an hour or so, as I have been, and I hope that by the end of the year I'll be on the leaderboards and someone will actually read this post and be amazed that I went from 20wpm to over 150wpm in less than a year.
What really helped me improve my typing speed is... lots of practice. It's going really slow, it's a lot of hard work and dedication. I almost don't feel so talented at this, but I've only been doing it for around a year, just with a lot of practice. How long does it take the average person to hit 60 to 80 WPM?
What really helped me improve my typing speed is... Practice. Lots and lots of practice. Read one sentence ahead, and let your brain work with your fingers. If you're focusing on the word as you type it, you'll slow yourself down. Let your brain and fingers work together automatically as you read ahead. It's a hard concept to master, and I'm still working on it myself; but it definitely helps!
fake fingers? fake keyboard? fake mind? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ could you be a bit more specific? ^___^
but srsly... this website is full of bugs! the average of my last 10 games is nowhere near 199.97 as you can tell :) occasionally i score 200+ WPM but this site fails to register those attempts for some odd reason
I've modified my 88-key Yamaha piano keyboard. Each octave is now a set of printable characters. I do most of my typing using chords: simultaneous presses of up to 10 keys. I've also modified and tested stenotypes and gaming keyboards to increase efficiency. You gotta chord to keep a consistent score of 180+ WPM @ 100% accuracy.
What really helped me improve my typing speed is to practice a lot, and memorize the keys as best as you can. One good drill is type the ABC's in order as fast and as accurate as possible.
What really helped me improve my typing speed is... having no life and only texting people over the internet because my amount of real life friends remains stagnant.
My tip to improve your typing speed is to keep practicing your typing every day. A few times by looking at your keyboard to familiarize yourself even more with it even if you think you are already very familiar with it. Then practice without looking at it.
My tip to improve your typing speed is to... Practice, practice practice! I have over 800 games and I'm still practicing over and over. Typing in the office and causal typing is not considered practice!
