Festus: A Poem - Philip James Bailey

This quote ble lagt til av itypeslows
We live in deeds, not years; in thoughts, not breaths; in feelings, not in figures on a dial. We should count time by heart throbs. He most lives who thinks most, feels the noblest, acts the best.

scoobysnacks I looked at some sites before and some contributed to Aristotle and some to Philip James Bailey I got confused but the quote was good so I just picked a random person.

Sounded a little odd to me, too, scoobysnacks. All the poetry sites I looked at attribute it to Philip James Bailey.

Brainyquote.com does indeed attribute this quote to Aristotle. However, other websitesattribute this quote to a poem by Philip James Bailey. I am inclined to think that "figures on a dial" would not be something Aristotle would write. It seems to reference a watch or some other type of analog measuring device. Something I do not think was commonplace in 4th century BC Greece.
