Richard M. Nixon

The Chinese use two brush strokes to write the word "crisis." One brush stroke stands for danger, the other for opportunity. In a crisis, be aware of the danger - but recognize the opportunity.

Downvoted. The quote may be a real quote from Nixon, but he was wrong about the Chinese word for crisis. Look it up.

Periods and commas always go inside the quotes in US English, even when quoting a single word.

The only exception is when a parenthetical expression follows the quote mark. In that case the period or comma goes at the very end after the closing parenthesis.

Every style manual agrees: AP, Chicago, Strunk and White, all of them.

The first occurrence of crisis should have quotation marks around it, and the period should be outside them. The hyphen is also a little questionable but is probably ok.
