I agree a little bit with that. I do that sometimes, just go as fast as I can to learn my fingers to speed up. I can type 80 wpm that way (not counting the errors) but when I type correctly after that I type around 65 with an accurassy of around 98%.

What really helped me improve my typing speed is... honestly? Not giving a shit about accuracy. I learned where to place my fingers and then I just typed like crazy. I improve in little steps, I type at 85% accuracy until my speed goes up, then I try getting to 95% and it speeds me up even more. Then I stop caring again until I am 10 wpm faster at lower accuracy and then I pay attention to accuracy again.

My experience has been that if you don't try to make your fingers move faster they won't move faster. So you'll have to move them faster and keep doing that until they hit the right keys.

When my fingers hurt after too much time on the keyboard, I... cut them off and type with my feet.

Two summers ago I decided to learn touch typing and hit 100wpm by the end of the summer. Did that.

This summer I'm aiming at 200wpm. I will hit 200+wpm on a quote before the end of the summer. Also acceptable: an average of 160wpm or higher on 10+ consecutive quotes.
