But the problem is internal and external, since it exists in every human being. It is the direct result of having developed the capacity to observe the world the way it is.

Please don't take this as an insult / criticism, this is just the type of advice i give. I find that much of the time, the reason we're lonely or miserable is entirely internal. It may seem like everyone else in the world has something wrong with them, but more often than not the problem is with us. I know from personal experience that 9 times out of 10 the problem is with the way you see life, not the way life is. Remember that humility isn't thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less. I find that we'll bond naturally with those around us just by trying to serve and make their lives better, instead of looking for something in return / having expectations. Life is what you make of it, in every possible meaning; if you're current lifestyle isn't making you happy, don't be afraid to try new things and get out of your comfort zone.
