Then there's the music people... who could care less for the lyrics as long as its got, like, a good beat and you could dance to it. I don't know, sometimes it might be easier to be a music girl and not a lyric girl. But since I'm not, let me just say this: sometimes things find you when you need them to find you. I believe that. And for me its usually song lyrics.

You ever look at a picture of yourself and see a stranger in the background? It makes you wonder how many strangers have pictures of you. How many moments of other peoples' lives have we been in? Were we a part of someone's life when their dream died? Did we keep trying to get in? As if we were somehow destined to be there or did the shot take us by surprise? Just think, you could be a big part of someone else's life and not even know it.

It's not my intention that one day this scholarship fund will erase the past. But it is my intention that one day it might eclipse it and remind a new generation of sports fans that what you do matters. And how you do it matters.

Albert Camus once wrote, "Blessed are the hearts that can bend; they shall never be broken." But I wonder if there's no breaking then there's no healing, if there's no healing then there's no learning, if there's no learning then there's no struggle. But the struggle is a part of life. So must all hearts be broken?

You ever heard the expression 'The best things in live are free.' Well that expression is true. Every once in a while, people step up they rise above themselves, sometimes they surprise you, and sometimes they fall short. Life is funny sometimes. It can push pretty hard but if you look close enough, you can find hope in the words of children, in the bars of the song and in the eyes of someone you love.

Well, how 'bout this: who the hell knows?! This isn't the time to make hard a fast decisions, it's time to make mistakes. Take the wrong train and get stuck somewhere chill. Fall in love - a lot. Major in philosophy 'cause there's no way to make a career out of that. Change your mind. Then change it again, because nothing is permanent. So make as many mistakes as you can. That way, someday, when they ask again what we want to be... we won't have to guess. We'll know.

When we were five, they asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up. Our answers were things like astronaut, president, or in my case... princess. When we were ten, they asked again and we answered - rock star, cowboy, or in my case, gold medalist. But now that we've grown up, they want a serious answer.

The castle, well, it may not be a castle. And its not so important happy ever after, just that its happy right now.
