Midterms season in school. Jazz band was rebranded to Study Hall. I took advantage and spent the period reviewing for the next day's tests. One of the other saxophone players walks out of the band room to where I am with a drum pad and sticks in his hand. He sat next to me, his chair groaning in protest, and drummed away, oblivious of the toothpick studying next to him. Endless questions rolled toward me, pulling me away from my studies. I answered everything with "It's terrible."

No one except Edmund felt any difficulty about trusting the beaver now, and everyone, including, Edmund, was very glad to hear the word "dinner." They therefore all hurried along behind their new friend who led them at a surprisingly quick pace, and always in the thickest parts of the forest, for over an hour. Everyone was feeling very tired and very hungry when suddenly the trees began to get thinner in front of them and the ground to fall steeply downhill.

People, and the way that they hold open doors and compliment haircuts and tell each other I love you, are my favorite kind of animal. The way that they use rainbow umbrellas on rainy days because they see color even in the dark. The way that they fight and fight and fight past all possibility because they see dawn even in the night.

Being unique is challenging because people perceive me differently due to my logical approach to understanding the world. I don't want to offend anyone, but I feel as though I intimidate people everywhere I go. How can I alter it?

I recall being only six years old at the time. The sensation of solitude. Hope I never experience what it would be like to have parents who see me mature. But I think it's just an emotion that a person would typically experience. I've learnt to live, and I'll never again want anyone in my family to experience sadness like I did in the past.
