In fact, this phenomenon enticed some people to leave their homeland and to immigrate to a foreign country. From my vantage point, living abroad is a double-edged sword containing both pros and cons.

I have decided to use this as a bit of a journal. I will be typing out my thoughts of the day from work. So here is day one in the form of a tidbit of advice. When you see a huge plume of black smoke, don't run towards it. Additionally, if you choose to ignore this advice, don't complain when you get hurt in the fire that you chose to run towards.

As you grow older, you get to know that your presence in someone's life isn't as significant as you think it is. You are the main character in your own life. Your feelings, your experience, your memories are of your own. There is no need to please every person you know, to the extent you feel unnecessarily exhausted, hurt mentally or physically. These feelings are yours only. You feel it more than anyone else. So love yourself, before you do for others.

- Sometimes doing your best isn't enough
There are times where you tried your best, the outcome is not as expected it to be. For example, you tried your best to juggle between work, studies, family, friends and your other half. You may fail to perform efficiently in work, pass exams, spend time with family, friends or your other half enough to not let them feel detached from your life. You will fail at least one or more of these aspects. Just don't give up. The moment you gave up, is the moment when there is no way back. Stay Strong!

- Dogmatism Stunts and Harms
I had a discussion with some of my family yesterday. I was reminded, much of what they tried to teach me when I was a child was not only incorrect, it was harmful. They have a dogmatic approach in their beliefs, and I have to challenge them constantly to make it clear that what they're saying is an opinion, not a fact. It was exhausting; in hindsight it was also dangerous as I'm the youngest in my family. Living under people who have issues determining fact from fiction stunted my growth.

Whenever you experience pain or suffering, just remember this: there is no love to protect without hate. There is no desire for peace without war. Most importantly, there is no courage without fear. As much suffering there is, just means there is just as much bliss in this world. Try and choose to live for the greatness in this world and never give it up for the alternative. My mother always told me that growing up; I never really understood it but I think I'm starting to understand a bit.
