You'll get better. Sure, it won't be today or tomorrow, but you will get better as long as you put in the time to practice on your typing. Personally, it took me a long time practicing so that I can type 50 wpm, and I think it'll take me more time to reach 60.

Anyone getting offended about typists "attacking" long quotes need to stop taking things so personally. Don't act like you are better for actually loving longer quotes. Some of us don't want to practice. Some of us just like the feeling of typing and find it satisfying.

Do you do whatever you want? Do you watch movies and shows every day? Do you delay useful stuff that you need to do, and instead get busy with something "fun"? Then, my friend, you need to know about delayed gratification vs. instant gratification. Ask yourself, before getting busy with any work, is it useful? Does it require active focus or passive focus? What are the gratifications I would get from this? And for each day, make a reasonable balance between the two types. Stay useful my friend.

What really helped me improve my typing speed is focusing more on accuracy. The more I type correctly, it builds up my "muscle memory" to the point that I don't have to look at my fingers to make sure they are properly placed! That in turn helps my SPEED!

I like typing and I do typing tests when I'm bored on occasion. I really like how this site tracks my WPM, as well as my accuracy, and averages them. It's pretty nice to see my average speed and accuracy go up.

When I'm typing on this site, depending on my state of mind, I eventually start making mistakes, or find long quotes daunting. This negatively affects my typing speed and accuracy. The more my typing speed and accuracy decline, the more frustrated I get. So... a little typing tip. When you find yourself in this situation, only focus on writing the next word and nothing else. Do it well. Do it fast. Then move on to the next one after that. Nothing else matters.
