On a purely symbolic level, they afford a vast potential for examination: the compression of space, the power of imagination to decompress that space, the house as the trope for the unlimited and the unknowable etc., etc.

Typing is addictive, when you type and get a great score all you want to do is beat it. Even though you know that it was an easy quote to type, you still come back time after time to beat your score. I hope this quote is easy enough so you can beat your high score.

- Typing fast for programming
It's actually not that important to be able to type fast for programming. Absolutely, knowing where the keys are reliably helps, but more of the time is spent thinking about the structure of the code than actually typing. Therefore long sentences like these are uncommon outside of comments, and there are usually a lot of punctuation and bracket characters that can slow you down.

I just received my first mechanical keyboard and it is fantastic. Actually, it's not necessarily about typing faster for me, but having a silky and satisfying feeling when typing brings joy to my work. I can use a variety of switch types, from clicky to silky smooth, and I can also modify the keys to be more silent than my previous membrane switch keyboard.

Progress is easy to lose track of. We see our goal and wonder why we are not there yet. But if you were a bystander watching over your own shoulder you would see remarkable improvements over time. Check in on yourself regularly to see how you are doing. Because over the course of a few minutes you may not see great change, but over days or months you will most certainly not be the same as you were before.

There was a quote talking about how college has been miserable. This may seem like quite simple, obvious advice, but finding a group or extra curricular groups to engage in gives that extra meaning to college. Told to me by someone that I respect, "College, while being a place to learn, is most importantly a place to meet people of similar interests to you." Another point of view if you're hating college thus far.
