While many courses teach HTML and CSS, this course follows a different approach. It's not only interactive but also aims to teach you the best practices for HTML and CSS.
Lessons are meant to teach you short information that you will apply directly in the following challenges.
You will learn concepts step by step and then apply what you learned to build two projects.
This course requires no prerequisites. It's meant for students who want to learn HTML and CSS.
The first 15 chapters (121 lessons and challenges) are totally free; after that, you will be asked to upgrade (a one-time payment that gives you access for 5 years) if you'd like to get access to the full course.
Which browsers does this course aim to support?
The concepts we teach in this course are supported on the last two versions of all major browsers. We do not support Internet Explorer as Microsoft has officially withdrawn it.
What can I expect?
This course is different than many HTML and CSS courses. It does not aim to teach you things the quick and dirty way. As you will see, browsers are very lenient with the HTML and CSS we write. However, suppose you write sub-optimal HTML code. In that case, you will be excluding people from using your website, miss out on SEO benefits, miss out on some browser features, and more.
This is a slow course. You may also have the urge to skip chapters because you know some of the concepts. While it is possible to skip chapters (from the bottom-right help center), we recommend that you don't.
The same applies to CSS. It has earned a reputation for being confusing. However, once you learn about inheritance, the cascade, and some nuances step by step, you will finally understand CSS.

What can I build at the end of this course?
Throughout this course, you will be working on two types of challenges:
challenges with minimal styling that help you practice what you just learned. Then, you'll get the opportunity to practice what you learned on two real projects.
The first project is a portfolio website. Once you complete the course, you will be able to customize this portfolio website and use it as your own.
The second project is a mobile web app called MyBank. It simulates a banking mobile web app. The web app is static, meaning we're only working on the HTML and CSS. It does not call any API or external service and has no programming logic.

Please note that these two projects have a few lines of JavaScript that will be given to you. This course does not teach JavaScript.

But one day, Jack's world was turned upside down when a wealthy landowner bought up all the land around him and forced him off his homestead. With nowhere else to turn, Jack found himself wandering the streets of the nearby town, feeling lost and out of place among the bustling crowds and towering buildings.
Desperate for work, Jack stumbled upon a job posting at a large corporate office. Despite his reservations, he decided to give it a try, thinking that perhaps he could bring some of his cowboy skills to this unfamiliar world. As Jack entered the office for his first day of work, he was greeted by a sea of suits and ties, the clacking of keyboards and the constant hum of conversation. He felt like a fish out of water, but he pushed through, determined to make the best of his new situation.
To his surprise, Jack found that some of his cowboy skills actually came in handy in the corporate world. His quick thinking and decisive action caught the eye of his superiors, and before long, Jack was climbing the ladder of success with ease. But as Jack rose through the ranks, he couldn't shake the feeling that he didn't belong in this world of suits and ties. He longed for the wide-open spaces of the prairie, the feel of the wind in his hair and the sound of Thunder's hooves pounding the earth.
One day, as Jack sat in his corner office, looking out over the city skyline, he made a decision. He would leave the corporate world behind and return to the life he loved, the life of a cowboy. And so, Jack saddled up Thunder, bid farewell to the world of business suits and briefcases, and rode off into the sunset, back to where he truly belonged. And though he may have left the corporate world behind, Jack never forgot the lessons he learned there. For in the end, it wasn't about where he worked or what he did, but about staying true to himself and following his heart. And that, dear reader, is a lesson we can all take to heart, no matter where our journey may lead us.
